Frequently Asked Questions | NuAge Spa – Ladera Ranch, CA
NuAge Spa is a medical aesthetic spa located in Ladera Ranch, California. We combine the relaxing atmosphere of a luxury day spa with the clinical precision of a medical practice. Unlike traditional day spas, we offer advanced treatments — including injectables, peptide therapy, exosome facials, and IV wellness — all performed under the medical supervision of Dr. Christian Rank. Every treatment is personalized to your unique skin, health, and aesthetic goals.
Yes. All medical services at NuAge Spa are owned by and performed under the direct supervision of Dr. Christian Rank. Our team of licensed estheticians and medical professionals follows strict clinical protocols and uses only FDA-approved and medical-grade products and technologies. We recommend scheduling a complimentary consultation before any medical treatment so we can assess your candidacy and customize a safe plan.
For most facial and body treatments, you can book directly. For medical services — such as injectables, peptide therapy, or Kybella — a complimentary consultation is strongly recommended. This allows our providers to review your medical history, understand your goals, and recommend the most effective and appropriate treatment plan. Consultations can be scheduled by phone at (949) 388-8577 or online at visitnuagespa.com.
We carry and use industry-leading medical-grade skincare lines including DMK, SkinBetter Science, and ZO Skin Health. These brands are scientifically formulated to deliver results that go beyond what over-the-counter products can achieve. Our team will recommend products that complement your in-spa treatments and help you maintain your results at home.

We offer a full menu of facials ranging from express to advanced clinical treatments, including:

25 Minutes to Glo Facial ($115) — A quick, results-driven express facial for clean, exfoliated skin without extractions.
Restorative Remedy Facial ($135) — A hydrating, traditional spa facial designed for stressed or dehydrated skin.
SkinBetter Science AlphaRet Facial — Combines patented AlphaRet technology with advanced techniques for a refreshed, revitalized complexion.
Dermaplane Facial ($225) — Removes dead skin cells and peach fuzz for instantly smoother, brighter skin.
Cryo Luxe Facial (90 min, $350) — A premium treatment combining dermaplane, peptide stem cell mask, and LightStim LED therapy.
Exosome Facial — A cutting-edge, non-invasive treatment using nano-technology to deliver exosomes packed with growth factors for collagen stimulation and skin repair.
Every client's skin is unique. Our licensed estheticians will assess your skin type, concerns, and goals at the start of your appointment to tailor the treatment accordingly. If you're unsure before booking, call us or book a brief consultation — we're happy to guide you to the best option for your skin.
Most of our facials involve little to no downtime. You may experience mild redness or sensitivity for a few hours after more advanced treatments like the AlphaRet Peel Facial or Dermaplane. Our Exosome Facial is specifically designed as a no-downtime treatment — you can return to your routine immediately. We'll provide full aftercare instructions at the end of every appointment.
Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation technique that uses a sterile surgical blade to gently remove dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the surface of the skin. It reveals a brighter, smoother complexion and allows skincare products and makeup to apply more evenly. While dermaplaning is generally suitable for most skin types, those with active acne, rosacea flare-ups, or very sensitive skin should consult with our estheticians beforehand. We'll make sure the treatment is safe and appropriate for you.
The Exosome Facial is a next-generation skin treatment that uses nano-technology to deliver exosomes — microscopic vesicles loaded with growth factors and anti-inflammatory proteins — directly into the skin. Unlike traditional facials that work primarily on the surface, exosomes operate at the cellular level, stimulating collagen production, accelerating skin repair, and reducing fine lines with no redness or irritation. It's ideal for clients who want advanced, clinically backed results without any recovery period.
We offer a comprehensive range of injectable aesthetic treatments, all performed under the supervision of Dr. Christian Rank:

Neuromodulators (Botox®, Dysport®, Jeuveau) — Relax facial muscles to smooth forehead lines, crow's feet, and frown lines. Results typically appear in 3–7 days and last 3–4 months.
Dermal Fillers — Hyaluronic acid-based fillers that restore volume, smooth deep creases, and enhance facial contours. Results are immediate and last 6–18 months depending on area treated.
Lip Filler — Specialized fillers for lip volume, shape, and symmetry. Results are immediate and typically last 6–12 months.
Sculptra® — A collagen stimulator that creates gradual, long-lasting volume restoration. Results can last over 2 years with optimal treatment.
Kybella® — An FDA-approved injectable that permanently destroys fat cells under the chin (double chin). Multiple sessions may be needed, with visible improvements in 4–6 weeks.
All three are neuromodulators — injectable treatments that temporarily relax the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles (lines formed by movement). They differ slightly in their molecular formulation, dilution, and diffusion patterns. Dysport may spread slightly more than Botox, making it well-suited for larger areas like the forehead. Jeuveau is a newer formulation sometimes preferred for its texture. Our injectors will recommend the best option based on your anatomy and treatment goals.
Dysport is priced at $4 per unit. The total number of units needed varies by individual and the areas being treated. During your consultation, we'll provide a personalized quote based on your specific goals and anatomy. Be sure to ask about our seasonal specials, which may offer additional savings.
Most injectable treatments at NuAge Spa involve minimal downtime. You may experience minor swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site for 24–72 hours. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, excessive heat, and alcohol for 24 hours after treatment. Most clients return to normal activities the same day. Full aftercare instructions will be provided at your appointment.
Unlike traditional hyaluronic acid fillers that add volume immediately, Sculptra® is a biostimulator — it works by stimulating your body's own collagen production over time. Results are gradual and natural-looking, building over several weeks to months, and can last more than 2 years. Sculptra is ideal for clients seeking long-term facial rejuvenation rather than an instant plumping effect. It's particularly effective for treating volume loss in the cheeks, temples, and jawline.
Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses a device with fine, sterile needles to create tiny controlled micro-channels in the skin. This triggers the skin's natural healing response, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. It effectively treats fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture, hyperpigmentation, and skin laxity. It can be performed on the face, neck, and décolletage.
Most clients see noticeable improvement after a series of 3–6 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. The number of treatments depends on the concern being addressed, your skin's condition, and your desired outcome. Maintenance sessions once or twice a year are recommended to sustain and build on your results. Our estheticians will create a customized treatment plan during your consultation.
A topical numbing cream is applied prior to treatment to maximize your comfort. Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or a subtle tingling. After the treatment, you can expect redness and mild sensitivity similar to a mild sunburn, which typically subsides within 24–48 hours. You should avoid sun exposure, active skincare ingredients (retinols, acids), and makeup for 24 hours post-treatment.
Yes — microneedling pairs exceptionally well with other treatments for enhanced results. At NuAge Spa, it can be combined with peptide therapy, exosomes, PRP (platelet-rich plasma), or targeted serums to amplify collagen stimulation, accelerate healing, and deepen the delivery of active ingredients into the skin. Our team will recommend the best combination protocol based on your skin goals.
Peptides are short chains of amino acids — the building blocks of proteins — that act as signaling molecules in your body. They tell your cells to perform specific functions, such as producing collagen, regulating hormones, repairing tissue, or burning fat. As we age, our body's natural peptide production declines. Peptide therapy restores and enhances these biological signals, supporting how you look, feel, and age. At NuAge Spa, peptide therapy is part of our broader longevity and wellness offering under the supervision of Dr. Christian Rank.
Clients who undergo peptide therapy often report improvements in multiple areas:

Skin quality — improved firmness, texture, and radiance through enhanced collagen production
Energy and vitality — reduced fatigue and more sustained daily energy
Body composition — support for fat metabolism and lean muscle maintenance
Recovery — faster healing from exercise, injury, or aesthetic procedures
Sleep quality — deeper, more restorative sleep
Mental clarity — improved focus and cognitive performance

Results build gradually over weeks to months and are designed to feel sustainable, not sudden.
Peptide therapy is well-suited for individuals who:

• Are in their 30s–60s and noticing early or advanced signs of aging
• Experience low energy, slow recovery, or changes in body composition
• Want proactive, preventative approaches to longevity and wellness
• Prefer therapies that work with the body's natural systems
• Are interested in non-invasive, medically guided solutions

A comprehensive consultation with our team will determine whether peptide therapy is appropriate for you based on your health history and goals.
Depending on the peptide protocol, treatments may be administered via subcutaneous injection, oral supplements, or topical application. Most clients find injections to be quick and very comfortable. Our medical team will walk you through the process and ensure you feel fully informed and at ease before beginning any protocol. Downtime is minimal — most clients resume normal activities immediately after.
Some clients notice subtle improvements in energy or sleep within the first few weeks. More significant and visible results — in skin quality, body composition, or recovery — typically develop over 1–3 months of consistent treatment. Because peptide therapy works by gradually restoring the body's internal balance, results tend to compound and deepen over time. Your provider will monitor your progress and adjust your protocol as needed.
We carry three of the most trusted names in medical-grade skincare:

DMK (Danne Montague-King) — An enzyme therapy-based skincare line that works by restoring the skin's natural function rather than masking symptoms. DMK is known for dramatic, long-term results in skin health and restoration.
SkinBetter Science — A clinically validated brand known for its patented AlphaRet technology and evidence-based formulations addressing anti-aging, discoloration, and skin renewal.
ZO Skin Health (by Dr. Zein Obagi) — A physician-developed line that focuses on creating and maintaining healthy skin through comprehensive protocols.
Yes — select products are available for purchase through our online shop at visitnuagespa.com. We also strongly recommend a skin consultation before purchasing a regimen, as our estheticians can assess your skin type and goals to recommend the most effective combination of products for your specific needs.
Medical-grade skincare products are formulated with higher concentrations of active ingredients that are clinically proven to penetrate deeper into the skin where change actually occurs. Over-the-counter products are limited by regulatory guidelines on ingredient strength, meaning they primarily work on the surface. Brands like DMK, SkinBetter Science, and ZO Skin Health are backed by clinical research and are designed to work synergistically with professional treatments for lasting, visible results.
