Restylane® is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to act like your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid, helping to visibly correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds.

    How Restylane® is Used

Restylane® products are used to for a variety of cosmetic purposes, including:

    • Lip enhancement
    • Minimizing the appearance of lines around the mouth
    • Adding volume to the cheeks
    • Reducing the appearance of dark circles under the eyes

Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found in the connective tissue of skin, making it an ideal ingredient in dermal fillers.

Restylane® is available to adults 21 years of age and older, but isn’t recommended for individuals who are:

    • Allergic to bacterial protein
    • Immunocompromised
    • Taking blood thinners
    • Pregnant or breastfeeding

    How Restylane® Works

Restylane® adds volume directly underneath the skin, correcting the effects of lost collagen and other tissue. Injections help smooth out and lift skin, making it look fuller and younger.

The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® attaches to the skin and the water in the acid provides volume, in addition to attracting more water and helping to preserve results.

    What to Expect

Restylane® is a minimally invasive, nonsurgical cosmetic procedure without any need for surgical equipment or incisions. Patients typically receive local anesthesia to minimize any discomfort they might feel.

Depending on the number of injections and the size of the treatment area, the entire treatment session can take anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour.

The session will begin with the doctor identifying one or more injection sites in the treatment areas and cleaning these areas with antiseptic. Next, he or she will decide how much Restylane® is needed. The injections will be made using an ultrafine needle.

    Targeted Treatment Areas for Restylane®

Restylane® can be used for multiple areas across the face, including the lips, cheeks, facial folds, and wrinkles. Each product contains hyaluronic acid and was designed with a specific purpose.

For example, Restylane® Silk is the first FDA-approved filler designed to add volume to the lips and address wrinkles around the mouth.Restylane® Lyft is used to add volume to the cheek and address midface contour deficiencies and laugh lines.

Restylane® Contour is also used in cheek augmentation and to correct midface contour deficiencies. Restylane® Refyne is used to minimize the appearance of wrinkles that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Restylane® Defyne is also used to address these wrinkles.

Patients should speak with their medical professional to determine which type of filler will produce the most optimal results.
